Checklist

 

We want to give all our attendees a check list of items you need to know for the two and half days of the event. Please spent some time to read it through. 

  • Hotel Reservations: 

Our Accommodation committee has noticed that several attendees have reached out to us about changes required to their hotel reservation. The questions included

1. Not sure which Hotel I am booked at.
2. I accidentally provided the wrong check in/check out date

Kindly verify your reservations and the check in dates so that you are not surprised at the last minute.

Also please note that if you are driving to the Hotel, parking at the two hotels next to GICC has been discounted to $9/night where as $18/night for Atlanta Airport Marriott.

  • Dress code: 

Suggested Dress Code during Sammelan: Weather appropriate, mostly cotton, Indian clothes
 
Recommended Dress Code for Gala Dinner: 
Ladies - Saris, Salwars, Lehengas or Formal Gowns
Men - Jackets, Formal Suits, Nehru Jackets or Sherwani
 
Note: Average outdoor temperature in Atlanta now is approximately 92 degrees Fahrenheit (33 degrees Celsius). Night could be cool (70 F). Although the venue is air-conditioned, we recommend comfortable Indian attire, throughout your Sammelan experience.  There's a 50% chance of rain Saturday andSunday afternoons so it might be a good idea to pack an umbrella just in case.
 

  • Registration and Check-in:

All paid pre-registered attendees will have to go through check-in counters to get their badges with their name on it and wristbands, which will allow them entry into the Convention Center. The person collecting the badges for the family will have to show one piece of ID to collect them. We will also give one Welcome bag to each family during this check-in process. The Welcome bag will have useful information and material such as Souvenir, few area maps/info and other miscellaneous items.
 
The registration/check-in counter at the Convention Center will officially open at 2 PM on Friday, July 1, 2016 and will remain open until 10 PM on Friday. The Registration/Information Desk will also be open at the entrance of International Ballroom of the Convention Center from 8 AM to 10 PM on Saturday (July 2) and Sunday (Jul 3).
 
Please note that we will not have check-in counters at the hotels. Please check-in, collect your badges & welcome kit only at the Sammelan venue (2000 Convention Center Concourse, College Park, GA 30337). Check ourRegistration page for more details. 

  • Food: 

The Konkani Sammelan 2016 Annapoorneswari food committee has drawn up the sumptuous, mouthwatering menu which includes a lot of Konkani Delicacies which you will not find in any restaurant in North America!  

The wristband should be worn on all 3 days as that will allow entry to the Dining area. The badge should be visible at all times. Check the Food page for more details on the food we have arranged for the Sammelan
 

  • Casino:

For your entertainment we have arranged a casino night for the youth at the Marriott Conference room (on 7/2) and for the other attendees at the GICC on 7/3. You can try your hand at different games like blackjack etc. without the fear of losing money. Check the Casino page for more details about the Casino.
 

  • Cash Bar:

For those who do enjoy a drink, we will have a cash bar at the GICC on all three days. Please look at the program schedule for the 3 days to know the exact times. There will be a variety of wines, beers and other alcohol beverages.  We request you to drink responsibly and have a good time. Check the Cash Bar page for most details on the Cash Bar.

  • Calendar, Cookbook and Raffle:

Be sure to buy specially made Konkani Calendar showcasing all our Poojya Swamiji's, our Isht Dev's and our Maths. We will also be selling a limited copies of the American Konkani Association Cook book. Also try your hand at several top prizes and increase your chances by buying raffle tickets (look for more details soon). All three are available for purchase at the registration counter.
 

  • CME:

If you have additionally registered for the CME, the CME will be held in Salons D, E at the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway (AAMG). However, we will start our day with Registration and Breakfast in the Exhibit Hall of Georgia International Convention Center (GICC), which is next door to the AAMG. Check the CME page for more details. 
 

  • Booths:

Be sure to stop by various vendors' booths in the Pre-function Ballroom Area.  Check our Exhibitors Page for list of our Exhibitors. 
 

  • Konkani Sammelan App:

To enhance your Konkani Sammelan experience, we request all attendees to download the Konkani Sammelan App on their smart phones and check out the entire program schedule. You can also optionally create a profile.
This app not only has our latest program schedule but also the food menu, speaker profiles, Venue Maps, Sponsor info, important information etc. It also lets you follow a specific track and set favorites/reminders to events you wish to attend. Additionally, if you create a profile you can post comments, pictures, chat with other attendees and take advantage of all the social features available.
Just search for Konkani Sammelan in AppStore or Google Play store. If you have problems downloading the app, just go to http://attendify.konkanisammelan.org on any browser to view the schedule. Someone will also be available at the registration desk to help you if you have any issues/questions on this app.
 

  • Helpline:

To help enhance our guest experience during the Sammelan, we are publishing one phone number which we call Amchi Helpline.
